High in the heavens [pkmn, Touya/N]
Dec. 27th, 2017 01:03 amTouya looks so ordinary, his hands jammed into his jacket pockets, his shoulders in their slight habitual hunch, his ears red-tipped from the cold. He smiles, and his words come out of his mouth accompanied by a cloud of white.
"So this is where you've been holed up," he says. "You're a mighty hard fellow to find, you know."
He looks so ordinary but this is the most extraordinary place—the top of Mt. Coronet, one of the highest places in the world. Behind N, he can feel Zerkrom rouse, alerted by N's sudden stillness.
"Touya," N breathes.
Touya takes one step inside the cave, taking a quick glance around. "I can see why you'd set yourself down here," he says. "Reishiram likes the feel of this place, too. Kinda chilly though, ain't it?"
"You came looking for me?" N says. He's moving forward too, eyes wide, his pace slowly picking up speed as he walks. "Why—after all that—"
"You didn't say I couldn't," Touya says with a shrug. "Besides, that look in your eyes when you left...I couldn't shake it, you know? Someone who looks like that, I thought, you must get pretty lonely all by yourself wherever you were. Zekrom's a fine pokémon, but...people need people. That's just how it is." He spreads his hands, self-deprecating, laughing a little. "I'm not good at small talk, and Cheren says I kick like a mule when I'm asleep, but if I'll do, I'm here."
N moves into Touya's outstretched hands and Touya folds him into a hug, holding him as he shakes for reasons that have nothing to do with the cold. N is much taller than Touya but he hunches down so small, a habit built from a lifetime of hiding, that it feels like Touya can hold all of him easily.
"You don't have to do this," N tells him. "You've got a whole life in Unova."
"You're right, no one's forcin' me," Touya murmurs, his lips soft against the crown of N's head. "But I reckon I'll stay just the same."
